How the selection represents its ranges — in particular whether a single cell is kept as a
1×1 range or collapsed to a bare anchor cell, and how many ranges are allowed.
'cell' — a single anchor cell; no ranges (modify / append are no-ops).
'range' — exactly one range; a single-cell pick is kept as a 1×1 range (append is a
no-op). For a one-range picker (a RangeInput).
'ranges' — many ranges, each kept as a 1×1 range when single-cell. For a multi-range
picker (a formula's references, a chart's data ranges).
'mixed'(default) — many ranges, but a lone single cell collapses to the bare anchor
cell (ranges: []). The spreadsheet selection: the cursor is a cell, not a 1×1 outline.
